Thanks to Student Voice at Centennial High School

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Students at Centennial High School joined up with Star Ecoworks to build solar lanterns for use in developing nations. STAR EcoWorks is a social enterprise based in Calgary, Canada. The ‘STAR’ in STAR EcoWorks is an acronym for Sustainable, Teachable, Adaptable & Repeatable. They have designed solar lanterns, that are built by people in Canada and then sent overseas. The Centennial High School project was inspired by Anna and Sarah from Student Voice, who suggested building the solar lanterns as a Grade 12 Legacy Project. One of the solar lanterns was donated to The Ssubi Foundation. We plan to donate the solar lantern to Palenga Primary School in Gulu, Northern Uganda. We would like to thank the students for spending a Friday afternoon building solar lanterns and Star Ecoworks for developing such as cool product and program.
