There are a lot of people who help make The Ssubi Foundation a success. Today we would like to send out a special thank you to Kate Hagerman, who recently took all our receipts from our time in Uganda this summer (and there were lots and lots and lots) and entered them into a categorized spreadsheet. Whew, thanks Kate. And thanks to all of you who have helped us out over the last year. We are getting into gear for the next Bootyfest event, our big annual fundraiser held at Big Rock Brewery, so stay tuned as we rely on lots of volunteers to help make the event a success.

Madam Openy, headmistress of Palenga Primary School has developed a long term plan to improve the academic performance of the school. As a first step she requested we provide the school with remedial lesson booklets developed to support their curriculum. The Ssubi Foundation provided the school with 2500 remedial booklets. Dusman was pleased to report that the program has taken off with parents each providing 1000 Ush (1 Can dollar) to the school to pay the teachers to help students with extra lessons focused on around the booklets. As a foundation we were thrilled with the contribution made by parents to enhance the remedial program and we continue to be inspired by Madam Openy’s leadership to improve the quality of education in Northern Uganda.
