Auma is 15 years old and lives with her Grandfather in the Internal Displaced Persons (IDP) camp.
Both her parents were killed during the Ugandan civil war. Auma and her Grandfather depend on world food program donations and on occasion the Grandfather will sell their donated food to raise money for her school fees. She has just completed Primary Six and currently Mrs. Openy and Dusman Okee are looking for a vocational institute for her to attend. Mrs. Openy believes this is the best opportunity for Auma as she will learn valuable skills such as tailoring. Auma is a child-head family, meaning she cares for a number of younger children in addition to attending school.
