Opio is 15 years old and attends Secondary Level One at Gulu High Boarding School in Northern Uganda.

Opio’s father died and he now lives with his mother who works in the field making charcoal to sell. Even though Opio was one of the best students in his primary school – Palenga IDP School, his mother often had a difficult time paying his school fees. Opio’s mother has also received micro-financing from The Ssubi Foundation and has started a successful small business.
